CNS Festival of Reading
We are delighted to announce our Festival of Reading starting on Monday 26th February until Friday 2nd March. Throughout the week there will be a series of events and activities celebrating the learning and enjoyment we experience through reading a range of fiction and nonfiction.
Students will be able to participate in book swap shops, literary quizzes and creative writing competitions, as well as our Literary Character event on Friday 2nd March. At lunchtime, in the drama room, students can enter by presenting a short speech or an act demonstrating their literary character.
Students can bring in costumes to change into or props to dramatically enhance their speech. Prizes of book tokens and chocolate are there to be won at each event.
Across the curriculum, all subject areas will be focusing on reading extracts or texts to develop our students’ cultural literacy. Students will be concentrating on learning and applying the academic language of each subject area through reading and interrogating various styles of texts.
