CNS students excel at Norwich Opportunity Area Youth Board event

CNS head students Pippin and Abbie excelled at the Norwich Opportunity Area Youth Board event, where their speeches helped their team win 'Best Overall Presentation'.

The event was part of the Norwich Opportunity Area initiative with the Department for Education, which aims to harness young people's ideas to raise aspirations and improve social mobility in the community.

Teams were challenged to come up with concepts that raised awareness and improved social mobility. Pippin and Abbie collaborated with two students from City Academy Norwich and their team's idea was to arrange an inspirational event with employers who have 'Made it in Norwich'.  The judges were impressed with the student's concept and they have successfully been shortlisted for the final prize.

Pippin and Abbie spoke eloquently in front of a panel of judges which included the MP Chloe Smith for Norwich North.

Assistant Headteacher Jean Tillyard said:

Our students are passionate about ensuring that the immense talent of young people is harnessed and that they have the chance to succeed in their home region.  They really want to improve the life chances of all young people from whatever background.
