Headteacher's Message, 1st December 2017
It has been another busy week at CNS with Year 11 having their first week of mock examinations as well as Guidance Day, Christmas Showcase and many visitors including members of the Historical Association, Professor Sir Barry Ife and Ormiston CEO, Nick Hudson.
Guidance Day is a fantastic opportunity for students to enhance their wider skills and the school always feels very vibrant on these days. I had the additional pleasure of showing Nick Hudson around who was very impressed by the quality of provision for our students and the high level of student engagement in all year groups. We are one of the largest Ormiston Academies and it was with great pride that I was able to show Nick around the school and share the day with him.
The Christmas Showcase showed the breadth of talent of many of our students and with a packed auditorium, the staff and students were delighted to be able to share their performances with their friends and family. In a different type of showcase, CNS 6th formers competed with other schools from across the region in the Historical Association Debate, such events are a wonderful way of students deepening their subject knowledge and building confidence in public speaking.
We bid farewell to our PSCO Tori Rush who will be leaving us after dedicated service to the school; in her place we welcome PC Sarah Walford. Working with other agencies from our community is a critical part of school life and allows us to effectively support students and their families.
Year 11 continue with their examinations next week and as well as wishing them luck, I would like to congratulate them on conducting themselves superbly through the first week.
Last night, we welcomed back the Class of 2017 to celebrate their achievements; it was a delight to see them together as a year group again and share in their success.
I am looking forward to a quiet weekend before Christmas celebrations and visits begin in earnest. I hope you have a good weekend and enjoy whatever you have planned.
