City of Norwich School

Headteacher's Message, Friday 10th May 2019

Pride is defined as ‘a feeling of pleasure and satisfaction that you get because you or people connected with you have done or got something good’. Pride can evoke an emotional and quite unexpected response; as a parent the feeling of pride in your children’s achievements can be intense and almost overwhelming. I feel great pride every day in being able to lead City of Norwich School but there are times in my week when the actions of CNS students lead to a great surge in pride. Such was the case yesterday in Year 10 assembly listening to the Head Students speak of their achievements as Student Leaders. William Hullock from Winterton House spoke with great confidence and clarity of the increased pride he felt for CNS by being part of the Student Leadership Team and that the role and responsibility resulted in pride in the achievements the team had made. I would like to thank all Student Leaders for their superb work this year as well as Ms Jain for her work with the Student Council.

Year 11 examinations begin on Monday and I wish them well with their revision and exams. They are a wonderful year group who have taken their studies very seriously and they deserve great success this summer. Year 9 had their summer examinations this week and conducted themselves in a mature and responsible way in the Sports Hall. Thank you to families for the support you give to your children and the school through these periods.

I am looking forward to the weekend which will hopefully be warmer than last weekend. I hope you have a good weekend and enjoy whatever you are doing.
