Headteacher's Message, Friday 13th October 2017
This week has felt very much ‘business as usual’ and with this half term nearly at a close, it is hard to believe that six weeks has already passed. I am very proud of the student and staff achievements this half term; especially new students and colleagues for whom the half term break will allow time for reflection as well as relaxation. I personally have really enjoyed this half term and am already very much looking forward to next half term. The additional days of the half term holiday enable time for the school community to have a proper rest ahead of the second half term with shorter days and typically colder weather. This said, I am grateful to the support staff who will continue to work during the break to ensure the school is ready for our return on 30th October.
This week, we had a series of Open Day Tours that welcomed Y6 pupils and their parents to see the school during the working day; parents passed on their compliments to the guides for their maturity and their eagerness to share their enthusiasm for the school. Parents also commented on how calm the school was with students engaged in their learning and that any of their anxieties about a large school environment had been overcome by seeing the school in action.
The PE team have had a multitude of fixtures this week with a large number of parents coming to watch the home games. Having spent many days on the touchline watching my sons play, I know the students and staff appreciate having spectators at a match; can I politely remind visitors to sign in at reception if they arrive before 4pm.
I am looking forward to this weekend, catching up with friends and then visiting family during the half term. I hope you have a good weekend and half term holiday and enjoy whatever you have planned.
