City of Norwich School

Headteacher's Message, Friday 1st February

It is with sadness that I am writing to inform you of the death of Paul Fisher, Chair of Governors at CNS from 2012-18. Paul was diagnosed with a brain tumour late last year and he was being cared for by his wife Margaret.

Paul had previously worked for the Local Authority and became a governor at CNS in 2011. Paul and Jim Nixon built a lasting friendship through their work together and I too valued the support and guidance Paul gave. Paul expertly found the balance of challenge and support that can be difficult to do as a governor and his experience is greatly missed.

Paul had a great passion for school music and was always present with Margaret at concerts and Performing Arts events. Paul always championed the teaching of music and instrumental lessons and was a key driver in the Year 7 music scholarships to ensure music remained an integral part of the learning and ethos at CNS.

As Chair of Governors, Paul embodied the Nolan principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.

For those of you who knew Paul and wish to pay your respects, his funeral will be at St Faiths on February 22nd at 11.45am
