Headteacher's Message, Friday 20th January 2017

You may have read in the news that from July 2017, Professor Toby Salt is stepping down as Chief Executive Officer of Ormiston Academies Trust to take up the post of Chief Executive Officer of the exam board AQA.

Being the CEO of such a large organisation is a challenging job, however, one of the many strengths that Toby has, is his natural interest not only in the Ormiston schools, but in the individual staff and students. At an OAT conference last year, Toby’s first question to me was to check on how a student was following his accident; this is very typical of Toby and is what has made him such a good CEO.

I have no doubt, that under the excellent leadership of Paul Hann, the board will find the right person with all the values that are so important to Ormiston. A change of leadership inevitably creates some anxiety but it also creates opportunities, so we look forward to seeing how it develops over the coming months.

I often say to people that it seems wherever I go, I come across a former student of CNS and that was the case again on Wednesday when we hosted the Norwich Opportunity Area Partnership Board. Paul Kett, who attended the meeting and works for the DfE Director Teaching and Teachers Group had emailed in advance on the off chance that he could introduce himself to me as a former CNS student; it was great to meet him and take him on a tour of the school. It just shows the depth of influence that our school has and how well our former students are doing.

This weekend, I’ll be enjoying our two new cats (Jude and Maisie) who have settled in quickly, and are already playing with Oscar and Sammy, our dogs, and seem to be running the house. Have a great weekend.
