Headteacher's Message, Friday 20th October 2023
We have been busy at CNS this week welcoming Year 6 families for Open Morning Tours of the school. The feedback has been excellent, and the tours are a helpful way of students and parents experiencing school during the working day. Parents commented on the purposeful learning, the calm atmosphere and the overwhelming politeness and positivity of the student guides.
I am grateful to staff for the time and energy they devote to the rich co-curricular programme at CNS and it has been an active half term for trips and visits. Our Year 11 GCSE geographers have been exploring London urban development this week, and GCSE drama and music students went to Theatre Royal to watch the English Touring Opera. Our Duke of Edinburgh Award has more participants than ever before, with over 50 students having signed up for the Gold Award, making it one of the biggest nationally.
I would like to politely remind parents and carers that there is an Ormiston staff training day on November 24th and school will be closed to all students on this day. The term dates for 2024-25 are now published on our website to help with family holiday planning.
Thank you for your patience with the remaining IT issues which are impacting individual areas rather than the whole school and I am confident that all remining issues will be resolved at half term.
I wish all students and families a relaxing half term break and look forward to welcoming the student community back on Monday 30th October.
Jo Philpott
