Headteacher's Message, Friday 23rd April 2021

It has been another excellent week at CNS and the finer weather is certainly lifting spirits. This is especially noticeable at break times when the students are enjoying the green spaces we are so lucky to have. Attendance has remained strong and there has been a visible improvement in uniform for which I appreciate your support. I will repeat my message from last week regarding punctuality which continues to be an area of improvement for some students, and I am grateful for your support in reinforcing at home the need for punctuality throughout school and adult life.

I have written to you today with information on how and when we plan to lift Covid restrictions at CNS. From Monday restrictions on the field will be removed and from June 10th we will end the bubble organisation in school. These dates are dependent on national and local guidance and cases, and students will be supported through the transition. This will be particularly challenging for Year 7 who do not yet know their way around the school and even Year 8 may need a refresher course! I have no further information regarding face coverings which we are told will be reviewed on May 17th.

Today we are inviting all members of the CNS community to be involved in the naming of the new Sixth Form building. The names have been shortlisted by the Sixth Form Council and SLT and meet the chosen criteria of longevity, inclusivity and linked to CNS. On the voting form you have been sent via email, you will be provided with more information about each of the shortlisted names. We welcome your engagement and please cast your vote by selecting your top two preferences on the voting form.

I wish everyone an enjoyable, safe and happy weekend.
