City of Norwich School

Headteacher's Message, Friday 26th January 2018

The school has been a hive of activity this week with regards to examination preparation. Year 11, 12 and 13 are all working hard and the school day for many of our students now finishes at 4.05pm to enable them to do an additional hour of study. More opportunities for period 6 learning will follow after half term and we will keep parents and students fully informed of this via the usual communication channels. The school day is tiring for students and the extended day even more so, made worse when teenage sleep patterns are irregular at the best of times, especially during growth spurts. NHS Choices is one of many websites that offers great advice on how to help your child get enough sleep to help them stay healthy and be ready for learning.

Can I take this opportunity to thank parents for the excellent support we receive regarding reinforcement of expectations, ensuring equipment is available to students, supporting completion of homework via engaging with Show My Homework and regular checking of Go4schools. It can be challenging for busy families to do all of this and if you are needing guidance or support with any of these aspects of school life, please contact our wonderful Student Services team who will be able to refer you to the correct member of staff.

I am looking forward to a quiet weekend as well as cajoling my son into revision as he prepares for his GCSE mocks! I hope you have a good weekend and enjoy whatever you have planned.
