City of Norwich School

Headteacher's Message, Friday 30th November 2018

We were delighted to receive news this week that CNS had achieved a place in the Sunday Times Top 20 State Secondary Schools in the East of England. The criteria for success are based around A*-B A’ level results and Grade 9-7 GCSE results. This makes us the top performing non-selective school in Norfolk for high attaining students and is credit to students and staff for their hard work and enthusiasm. Positive relationships underpin this success and student voice regularly reinforces this as a key factor in being able to achieve excellence.

Following last week’s successful Parents Evening, it was Year 7 teachers and parents turn to discuss student progress and attitudes to learning. Again, attendance was excellent and conversations purposeful, thank you to everyone involved in forging positive relationships between school and home.

Continuing the theme of relationships, we had a successful routine safeguarding audit from Ormiston Academy Trust this week; such visits are a critical part of school improvement and quality assurance. The visitors were very impressed by the welcoming ethos of CNS, the pastoral care and our kind and caring community.

I am looking forward to a weekend of pre-Christmas festivity and hope you have a good weekend and enjoy whatever you have planned.
