Headteacher's Message, Friday 6th October 2023
Last night was our annual Open Evening where we welcomed families from across the community to CNS. The evening was incredibly busy with a wonderfully vibrant atmosphere across all areas of the school. Our student guides and subject ambassadors were a credit to themselves, their families and the school, and made me incredibly proud of everything we achieve at CNS. We never forget we are educating your children and in doing so help them be the children and adults we would want our own children to be. My children are all now in their 20s and independent young people and I know how important and challenging the teenage years are and the important role school played in shaping their lives. I remain passionate in ensuring CNS offers every opportunity for young people to blossom and grow into healthy, rounded and well-educated young people. This was the heart of my message last night; it is the driving force of all my decision-making at CNS and it was wonderful to see that in action yesterday.
We have been surveying Year 7 and Year 12 parents to gauge how well their children have settled into school, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Parents have highlighted for us the strengths of CNS and they have also shared how our school could be even better, and we are working through those comments as part of our school improvement. During this term I will reach out to different groups of parents at different points in the term and I will welcome your comments.
I've also spent time this week with different student leaders capturing their voice and opinions on how CNS can be the very best it can be. I so enjoy these moments with students who are also very proud of the school to which they belong.
I hope everyone has a happy and restful weekend.
Jo Philpott
