City of Norwich School

Headteacher's Message, Friday 6th September 2019

Welcome back to a new school year and I hope everyone had a lovely holiday. We have had a wonderful week with two excellent days of staff development followed by three fantastic teaching days.

Mrs Franklin, Director of Behaviour and Welfare, and I met with all our students on Wednesday to discuss expectations and the new behaviour policy. As a kind and caring community, we now share an expectations language of being Punctual, Prepared and Polite; should students not meet with expectations and incur five negative events they will be placed in after school detention the following day with more serious sanctions for defiance.

We are delighted with the positive response from students and lessons and social time have been purposeful and positive in all areas of the school and all year groups. I am particularly impressed by Year 7 who have confidently found their way around the school this week and worked tremendously hard in lessons.

The full policy can be found on our website here and I thank you in advance for your support in discussing this at home and helping your child in meeting the expectations.  I hope you have a good weekend and enjoy whatever you have planned.
