City of Norwich School

Headteacher's Message, Friday 7th January 2022

The awful news of the death of Nick Stone has hit everyone very hard and the strength and compassion of the CNS community has provided comfort and support for those most affected. I met with Nick’s mum, sister and niece on Wednesday who had not appreciated the impact Nick had on so many children over his 30 years of teaching at CNS. This has been further demonstrated through the hundreds of emails and social media comments regaling stories of his lessons, trips to France, as well as his terrible jokes. It is our intention to open an e-book of condolence and hold a memorial service and I will inform everyone of the details of these as soon as I can.

The staggered return to school has enabled Covid testing to again take place and I am grateful to colleagues who have facilitated this with the support of Norwich City Football Club. Please keep us informed of any positive home lateral flow tests which should be regularly taken and always used if any Covid symptoms are being displayed. Please be patient with our attendance team who are doing a superb job of recording and monitoring attendance.

Happy New Year to all members of the CNS community. I hope 2022 brings you and your family good health and happiness.
