City of Norwich School

Headteacher's Message, Friday 7th September 2018

Welcome back to a new school year and I hope everyone had a lovely holiday. We have had a wonderful week with two excellent days of staff development followed by welcoming our students back yesterday.

Mrs Franklin, Director of Behaviour and Welfare, and I met with all our students yesterday to discuss expectations. We emphasised the caring and considerate community of CNS and that we all have a role to play in meeting and expecting high expectations of ourselves and each other in all aspect of school life. We also shared the new mobile phone policy of ‘not seen and not heard’. A letter has been sent home today explaining the reasons for the change as well as the approach and sanctions of the policy; I thank you in advance for your support in discussing this at home and helping your child in meeting the expectations.

You will also have received a letter this week for Parent Governor elections. CNS and Ormiston value the critical role Governors play in supporting and challenging the school and if this is of interest to you then I encourage your nomination.

Tomorrow the school will be open from 10am for Heritage Day and we welcome students past and present to come and have a delve in the school archive and a tour of the main building.

I hope you have a good weekend and enjoy whatever you have planned.
