Kid's Lit Quiz 2019: Norfolk Heat
The Norfolk heat of the 2019 edition of the annual Kid’s Lit Quiz was held at Dereham Neatherd High School on Friday 15th November. CNS was admirably represented by a team combining students from Years 7 and 8 – Anneli, Hannah, Alice and Jasmine.
The Kids' Lit Quiz is an annual literature quiz for students aged 10 - 13 years and quizzes are held all around the world. There are a range of heats, starting at a local level and teams of four students are asked to answer 100 questions on children’s literature divided into ten categories, which vary each year. Examples of categories set previously include poetry, authors, titles, settings, characters, and nursery rhymes.
The winning team from each heat competes in a National Final with the national champions then competing in the World Final. The quiz was founded by New Zealand quizmaster Wayne Mills, who reads enough books to write several thousand questions each year.
Mr Wilson, CNS Librarian said "In a strong field of 28 teams from schools around the county, they battled their way through ten challenging rounds to end with an excellent third place finish. This performance continues our proud recent record of top three finishes in this event, which reflects the positive impact of the school’s ongoing commitment to reading for pleasure.
"Most importantly of all, every student involved had a wonderful time participating in the quiz and gave an outstanding account of both themselves and CNS. Well done girls!"
