Sociology students enjoy virtual visit from Tara Westover

 With a little help from 'Zoom', sociology students were delighted to welcome acclaimed writer Tara Westover to CNS recently through a virtual visit.

Tara's celebrated memoir - charting her early life as a Mormon, not attending formal school until her mid-teens, and eventually gaining a Ph.D. - is a riveting read which has now sold over six million copies. 

Tara's story provides a fascinating counterpoint to our study of education through a sociological lens and the students were fully engaged, asking many thoughtful questions.  It was a delight to observe members of our school community take ownership of the event, proving to be both fantastic ambassadors for the school and so fully committed to their learning. 

Following the session, Tara said "The students were lovely and their questions were excellent.  It was a pleasure to talk to them" Thank you so much Tara for helping us make a unique, treasured memory!
