Students reach runners up in Subway 'Design a Sub Challenge' 2017

Four Year 13 business students from City of Norwich School (CNS) have been awarded the runners up prize of £250 in a business competition run by Subway, the fast food franchise.

Students Anwar, Joss, Benjamin, and Kay, were one of the six teams shortlisted from the 94 applications to attend the finals of the competition.

The ‘Design a Sub Challenge 2017’ called for students to design a new low-fat sub for Subway’s stores. In addition to designing the sandwich, they also had to produce a marketing campaign to a fictitious £20,000 budget and a business plan to accompany it.

The competition provided students with an opportunity to take part in a real-life business challenge, with the winners potentially seeing their sandwich design go on sale in over 100 Subway stores throughout the region.

Students whose entries were shortlisted were asked to pitch their business plan and marketing proposals to a panel of entrepreneurs who own and run Subway stores in East Anglia.

Miss Collison, Subject Leader of Business and Economics, said:

“This was an absolutely super event and something they should all be very proud of.”
