Sixth Form Virtual Open Evening 2020
“Welcome to the CNS Virtual Open Evening. Our open events are always a huge success and this year won’t be any different. Of course, we are disappointed that we can't invite students and their families in through the door, but the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We’ve worked hard in our planning and communications throughout the pandemic and this event will be no different.
CNS has a large, diverse and inclusive 6th form, with over 30 different courses to choose from and flexibility to allow student choice. We are proud of the expertise of our staff and the focus provided to every individual to succeed. Our 6th form benefit from having their own bespoke areas in the school and the new 6th form café and study areas further enhance our provision. Our high university uptake and superb retention into year 13 are reflective of the quality experience that students enjoy at CNS.
Our aim tonight is to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for our prospective students and provide them with all the information they need for one of the biggest decisions that they will make together".

Following the approval of the planning permission for the new, purpose-built sixth form block, work is now underway. This exciting project will enable the school to move forward with its plans to modernise and improve its facilities and create additional high quality learning space for its students to study in.
The new, single-story, state of the art building will replace two existing mobile science blocks on the school site, with new science facilities already having been incorporated in the main school building. Although predominately intended for sixth form students, the three new classrooms, ICT room, library, study and café area will provide improved facilities for the whole CNS community.
As well as the new building, the approved plans also include enhancement of its existing performing arts building The Arc, by incorporating a new dance studio and drama room.
The plan is for the build to be completed in March 2021.
Jo Philpott, Headteacher said “We were thrilled when planning was approved for the new Sixth Form facilities at CNS. Our large and vibrant Sixth Form and school community will benefit from the modern learning spaces. Governors and Ormiston Academy Trust have been instrumental in supporting this welcome addition to our school.”
